Becky MurrayThis season, Becky Murray enters her 6th season with Team Indiana and 14th season as a club volleyball coach. Becky will begin the 2010 season fresh off a National Championship Runner Up finish at AAUs and a 3rd Place finish at JVA Nationals with the Thundercats in 2009. She is looking forward to developing a new group of 12s in the coming months!

In 2008, the Team Indiana 12-1 Thundercats had TOP 10 finishes at both the AAU National Championship (9th) and the JVDA National Championship (9th). In recent years, the TI 12-1s also won the Hoosier Regional Championship in back to back years before joining the JVDA, competed in the National Division of the Junior Olympic Championships each year while competing in USAV, and had a 2nd place at Asics Junior Nationals in 2006.

Before accepting the position as 12-1 coach at Team Indiana, she coached 13-1 at Cajunland Volleyball Club in New Orleans, 15-1 at KJVA (now KIVA) in Louisville, and 13-1 and 12-1 at Circle City in Indianapolis. In these years, Becky has led teams to 9th, 17th, 11th and two 13th place finishes at the USJOV Championships as well as a 5th place finish at AAU Nationals, and 1 time Tampa Bay Qualifier Championship.

Becky currently assists the volleyball program at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High School where her husband, Brian Murray, is head coach. Becky is a preschool special education resource teacher in Indianapolis Public Schools and is on the Special Education Evaluation Team for incoming preschoolers. Becky and her husband, Brian, have a 5 year old son, Logan, who has told his preschool teacher that he lives at Team Indiana. He apparently has super powers and runs around the gym at the speed of light.

Becky graduated from perennially nationally-ranked volleyball power Assumption High School in Louisville, Kentucky in 1991. She made All-State honors in 1988, 1989, and 1990 as an outside hitter. In the fall of 2007, Becky was inducted into the Assumption High School Hall of Fame and is the first volleyball player from Assumption ever to be honored with an induction.

Becky accepted a Division I scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans where she played four years for the Green Wave. While at Tulane, Becky became the All-time career digs leader, the Metro Conference Student Athlete of the Year in 1994-1995, and the Doris K. Joffrion Award winner for outstanding leadership in academics and athletics in 1995. While at Tulane, Becky served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Board as well as the NCAA gender equity sub-committee from Tulane University. She was also part of CACTUS (Community Action Council of Tulane University Students) where she volunteered as a mentor at a local juvenile detention center. Becky was nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year in 1995 by Tulane University.
