Becky Murray enters her 12th season as a club volleyball
coach this year and her 4th season with Team Indiana. Before
accepting the position as 12-1 coach at Team Indiana, she
coached 13-1 at Cajunland Volleyball Club in New Orleans,
15-1 at KJVA (now KIVA) in Louisville, and 13-1 and 12-1
at Circle City in Indianapolis. In these years, Becky has
led teams to 9th, 17th, 11th and two 13th place finishes
at the USJOV Championships as well as a 5th place finish
at AAU Nationals, and 1 time Tampa Bay Qualifier Championship.
Over the last 2 seasons, the Team Indiana 12-1 team has won
the Hoosier Regional Championship in back to back years,
competed in the National Division of the Junior Olympic Championships
in Atlanta and Minneapolis and finished second at the Asics
Junior Nationals in Chicago!
Becky currently assists the volleyball program at Brebeuf
Jesuit Preparatory High School where her husband, Brian Murray,
is head coach. Becky is a preschool special education resource
teacher in Indianapolis Public Schools and is also a Developmental
Therapist for children under 3 years old. Becky and her husband,
Brian, have a 3 year old son, Logan, who can often be seen
playing in the water fountain, pushing around volleyball
carts, or just running wildly around at Team Indiana!
Becky graduated from perennially nationally-ranked volleyball
power Assumption High School in Louisville, Kentucky in 1991.
She made All-State honors in 1988, 1989, and 1990 as an outside
hitter. In the fall of 2007, Becky was inducted into the
Assumption High School Hall of Fame and is the first volleyball
player from Assumption ever to be honored with an induction.
Becky
accepted a Division I scholarship to Tulane University in
New Orleans where she played four years for the Green Wave.
While at Tulane, Becky became the All-time career digs leader,
the Metro Conference Student Athlete of the Year in 1994-1995,
and the Doris K. Joffrion Award winner for outstanding leadership
in academics and athletics in 1995. While at Tulane, Becky
served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Board as well as the
NCAA gender equity sub-committee from Tulane University. She
was also part of CACTUS (Community Action Council of Tulane
University Students) where she volunteered as a mentor at
a local juvenile detention center.
