Coach
Brian Murray will begin his 4th season at Team Indiana.
In addition to being a Club Owner and Director, Brian is
the head 14-1 coach. His Team Indiana 14-1 team finished
third at the US Juniors Nationals (Minnesota) in the prestigious
Open division in 2007. The 2007 14-1 team also finished
Runner-up at the AAU National Championship in Orlando,
placing 3 players on the All-American team. In 2006, his
Team Indiana 14-1 team finished 23rd in the Open division
at the US Junior Nationals (Atlanta). And in 2005, Brian’s
14-1 team finished third in the National Division at the
US Junior Nationals (Salt Lake City). In his 17 years
coaching club in Indianapolis, Brian has led many teams
to the Junior Olympic Championships in the 14 and Under
division including multiple top 5 finishes and many top
10 finishes. Before branching out with Team Indiana, Brian
was the 14-1 coach at Circle City Volleyball Club in Indianapolis
for 13 years.
Brian and his wife, Becky, have a 3 year old son, Logan.
He can often be found running behind the courts chasing
volleyballs before practice or climbing up the stairs to
the mezzanine so he can yell, “Daddy!” Logan
also enjoys drenching himself in the water fountains on
the east side of the building.
Brian also coaches volleyball at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory
High School. In his fifth year at Brebeuf Jesuit Brian
Murray and his Braves were the IHSAA 3-A State Volleyball
Tournament champions. In 2005, Brian’s seventh year
at Brebeuf he and the Braves won the Marion County Championship
and were IHSAA 3-A Sectional, Regional, and State Championship
in addition to ending the season ranked 4th in the Nation
by Prepvolleyball.com. In 2005 Brian was name Marion County
Coach of the year, Star North Coach of the Year (again),
and IHSAA 3A State Coach of the Year. At Brebeuf, Brian’s
overall win-loss record while at Brebeuf Jesuit is an impressive
212-41.
Brian has coached numerous players on
to Division I, II, III, and NAIA college teams. Many of
those players have earned Division I full athletic scholarships.
Some of Brian’s
former players have also earned High School All-American
status, Gatorade Player of the Year awards, berths to the
NCAA National tournament, NCAA All-American placement,
and some are record holders in various categories at their
respective colleges. |
