David Englert joined the Team Indiana coaching staff in the winter of 2008. David will assist Sara Marshall as assistant coach for the 18-1’s team for the season. Since 1999, Englert has coached both men’s and women’s club volleyball in the Indianapolis area working primarily with the 16-18 year old age group. His responsibilities on the team will include development of the outside and middle hitters and encouraging hard work through positive reinforcement.
In the late 1990’s, Englert diligently worked towards establishing his professional career in beach volleyball. While attempting to qualify for the AVP tour, Englert trained and traveled up and down the East Coast supporting himself on money earned on amateur tours. In recent years, Englert can be found bouncing between the EVP (Extreme Volleyball Professionals out of Chicago) and the MPVA (Midwest Professional Volleyball Association) while maintaining a professional career in commercial real estate.
Englert attended Indiana University and obtained an undergraduate degree in Accounting with a minor in mathematics. While at IU, he played outside hitter for the club team. Pre-college playing days had him playing alongside club co-owner Brian Murray and representing the first men’s high school club in Indianapolis.
