Kristin has been involved with the sport of volleyball for the past 13 years. She has an extensive resume that includes playing and coaching. Last year Kristin coached Team Indiana 16-2 (Pumas) with assistant coach Christina Rose. The team posted a 58-20 record for the entire club season. The Pumas earned a 2nd place finish at the Team Indiana President’s Day Tournament in February and also had another 2nd place finish in April at the Dunes Open Classic. In May the Pumas won the Team Indiana Classic 16s Division followed by winning the Munciana Classic 17s Division in early June. The Pumas then traveled to play in the AAU Championships in Orlando, FL. The team finished 5th after falling 13-15 in the quarter-finals of the 98 team field. The successful tournament landed Sarah Dooms on the 2008 AAU All-Star team. The Pumas finished the season with an 11th place finish at the JVDA Championships.
In 2007, Kristin coached the 16-2 Ninjas with assistant coach Cindy Pardue. The Ninjas had a very successful season which began with the squad playing in open-level competition preceding the qualifier season. The 16-2 squad finished 5th in 16 Open at the Central Zone Invite. The Ninjas qualifier season was very successful even though they did not quality for the Junior Olympics. They went 24-3 over three qualifiers: Silver Champions at Colorado Crossroads, 9th at the Mid East Qualifier and 5th at the North East Qualifier. The Ninjas also won the 18 Club Championships at the Munciana Classic Tournament. They finished their season with a 9-3 finish at AAU National Championships, winning the Championship Bracket (11th place finish).
In 2006, Kristin was the head coach of the 16-2 CHAOS team. The 16-2 squad finished 5th at Bluegrass Pre Qualifier in 16 open the weekend before MEQ. CHAOS followed up the success by winning the Silver Championships at MEQ with a 9-2 record. At the Lone Star Classic, CHAOS won their second Silver Championship by finishing the tournament 9-1. At the Hoosier Regionals, CHAOS finished 3rd to earn an American bid to the Junior Olympics in Atlanta. CHAOS had a very successful run at nationals by winning the Bronze Championships and finishing 17th.
In 2005, Kristin coached Team Indiana 17-2 (Dingos) with Michelle Sobocinski. The 17-2 squad, which played in open-level prior to the qualifier season, had a very successful season overcoming many unfortunate events. The team finished in 3rd at the Great Lakes Festival (17 open) and also won the Silver Championships in the Bluegrass Pre Qualifier (17 open). The team placed 21st at MEQ and 29th at NLQ. At the Hoosier Regionals, the Dingos took home a 3rd place finish granting them an American bid to the Junior Olympics in Salt Lake City.
Kristin’s previous coaching experiences include coaching for Circle City Volleyball Club for four years (2000-2004). Kristin also spent a year coaching with Steve Shondell and his elementary program at Muncie Burris. She served as head coach for the 5th & 6th graders in the fall, and she continued working with Shondell and his elementary training program in the spring. Kristin also assisted Lenny Kaminsky and the JV squad at Burris during the 2003 fall season. Kristin will start her fifth year coaching for Team Indiana in the 2009 club season.
Kristin graduated from Perry Meridian High School in 1999. Kristin earned three varsity letters and was All-Conference her senior season. She was named co-captain and MVP for both her junior and senior season. Kristin then attended Marian College on scholarship, where she played volleyball for the Knights. Kristin played all four years and was chosen as a co-captain her senior campaign. Kristin was also named to the 2002 Academic All American team. Kristin graduated magna cum laude from Marian with a B.S. in Business Administration.
While finishing her M.A, in Public Relations from Ball State University, Kristin took the role of Operations Coordinator for Team Indiana. She will continue that role this season, while she also works as a Marketing Assistant for Superior Distribution. Kristin and her husband Steve, who is a teacher and a cross country and track coach at Franklin Community High School, reside in Greenwood. Their puppy, Hunter, is the official Team Indiana mascot and is often found in his luxurious cage inside the offices. |
