Katie's enthusiasm for volleyball began in her fourth grade year at Immaculate Heart of Mary School and Parish. She is a veteran of five years for the Catholic Youth Organization. In addition to her CYO experience, she was also a member of Circle City's club program from ages thirteen through sixteen. In 2004, Katie played for Team Indiana's inaugural year under Coach Steve Simonsen. Katie also played four years at Brebeuf Jesuit under Brian Murray, winning a state title her junior year.
In addition to her experience on the court, Katie has also coached for many seasons. During her high school years, she coached CYO for three seasons and three club seasons with her father, Kevin Kelley, including the Team Indiana Smurf Dawgs who won a bid for Junior Olympics in Salt Lake City and placed 22nd overall.
After graduating high school, Katie took time off from coach to attend Indiana University. She majored in business management and entrepreneurship.
After college, Katie joined the Team Indiana coaching staff once again as the head coach of 16 Caliente with highlights including placing 5th out of 18 teams at the Bluegrass Pre Qualifier and 5th out of 22 team at the Munciana Classic to end the season. Most recently, this past fall, Katie joined the coaching staff at her Alma Matter, Brebeuf Jesuit, and helped lead the Junior Varsity team to a highly successful season as well as helped prepare and lead the Varsity to the State Finals.
Katie is looking forward to another successful and fun filled season at Team Indiana in 2011!
