Michelle ColemanHaving been active in club volleyball since 1993 both as a player and as a coach, Michelle’s roots began in Kentucky playing for KJVA, now KIVA.  She also played with Derby City in Southern Indiana.  Michelle graduated in 1998 from New Albany High School and moved to Indianapolis to attend IUPUI on a full athletic scholarship.

As an IUPUI Jaguar, Michelle helped lead her team to the Mid-Continent Conference championship her junior year, earning Second Team All-Conference and All-Tournament accolades. She served as team co-captain as a senior and was also honored with her third consecutive Academic All-Conference award.

Michelle finished her collegiate career with her name occupying numerous single match and career rankings in the IUPUI record book. She ranks in the top 10 for kills, attempts, hitting percentage, and block assists for a single match, as well as being among the leaders in total and average kills and attempts for a career.

COACH
Michelle has coached top teams and assisted our athletes and families through the recruiting process at Team Indiana since 2005.  Since then, she has coached an Asics team ranging in age from 15-18.  Since 2009, Michelle has been a consistent coaching presence with 17 Asics.  To date, Michelle has coached 11 players who have been recognized as All-Americans.

When her daughter, Haley, arrived in 2010, Michelle and her husband, Rich, decided to join forces on the sidelines and guided the 2011 17 Asics team to a top 25 finish at AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships in the 17 Open division.  They also achieved a Pool A finish in the 17s/18s division of the Mideast Power League.

In addition to 12 years of club coaching Michelle has also coached collegiately. She was a graduate assistant for IUPUI (2002), where she focused on recruiting correspondence, on-court training, and game film exchange. She was also an assistant coach at Marian University (2003, 2004) where her primary responsibilities included player development, recruiting, and the strength and conditioning program.

RECRUITING COORDINATOR
As the recruiting coordinator for Team Indiana, she has guided over 80 players and families through the recruiting process. She and Rich also founded and manage the annual JR / SR Showcase. TEAM INDIANA ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Michelle Coleman2011 – 17-1 Blackout achieved a Pool A finish in the 17s/18s division of the Mideast Power League and a a top 25 finish at AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships in the 17 Open division.

2010 – 17-1 Tenacity achieved numerous high finishes throughout the year at multiple events.  3rd at Indy Juniors Classic.

2009—17-1 Toxic achieved numerous top ten finishes throughout the year at multiple events.  (Central Zones, MAVA Open Challenge, Bluegrass Pre-Qualifier, Indy Juniors Classic, the Team Indiana Classic and more)

2008—17-1 TNT highlighted a great season with top ten finishes at the AAU National Championships (5th) and JVDA National Championships (8th). TNT also won the Bluegrass Pre-Qualifier in Louisville.

2007—15-1 Toucans had top ten finishes at the MidEast Qualifier and Colorado Crossroads Qualifier. The Toucans earned their bid to USA Junior Olympics by finishing second at the Hoosier Regional Championships.

2006—16-1 SWAT became the first Team Indiana team to qualify in the Open division at USA Junior Olympics by finishing 2nd at the Northern Lights Qualifier. She also assisted Rich Coleman, her husband, with the National Championship team, 18-1 Terminators.

Haley Marie2005—18-1 Turtles finished 3rd in the 18 American Division at the USA Junior Olympics, and Michelle assisted Rich with the 17-1 Bulldogs team that finished 2nd in the 17 American Division.

Over past seasons, Michelle has coached the 18-1 Turtles, 16-1 SWAT, 15-1 Toucans, 17-1 TNT, 17-1 Toxic, 17-1 Tenacity and 17-1 Blackout.

Michelle currently resides in Fishers with her husband, Rich, daughter, Haley, and their Jack Russell Terrier, Rocky.
