Julia Patras Continuing Her Career at DePauw

,

For every player who wants to go play college volleyball, different things are important. Thinking through all of the different options and then finding the perfect school to match can be a burden, which is why we are always so excited when our athletes find their match! Congratulations to Jula Patras on your commitment to continuing your volleyball career at DePauw University! We know it will be a great fit!

Julia, or JP, picked DePauw because it hit all of the most important parts of her college experience.

“I chose the university I did because it fit all the things I wanted in a school,” she said.  “It was close to home, a highly-ranked school, and a smaller student population. When I went on my visit it felt right and I could see myself spending the next 4 years there, and when I met the team and the coach, they were people I could see myself spending time with for the next 4 years.”

JP hasn’t decided a major just yet, but she’s very excited to get on campus for volleyball and all the other things that DePauw has to offer.

“I am most excited to have the opportunity to play at the collegiate level while also being able to get involved in different things around campus like Greek life,” Patras said.

Above all else, Patras thinks that patience is a virtue when it comes to the recruiting process when finding the right fit.

“I would say to be patient and keep your options open,” she explained. “For me I wanted to find a school fit for me academically first then see if volleyball was something I could potentially pursue.”

There are different items that go into preparation for any college athlete, and Patras was no different. After years of being in the gym, in the classroom, and balancing schedules, she feels she has prepared herself to be successful.

“One thing that has prepared me for college volleyball is constantly playing against high competition in practices and in tournaments,” she said. “Volleyball over the years has taught me a lot of time management with the busy schedule between school and club, and the traveling during club season. This will help prepare me for not only college volleyball but college itself.”

Congratulations JP! We are so excited for your next step and can’t wait to see you playing at the next level!
